The Common Council: Meetings will be monthly on 2nd Monday at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The Board of Public Works and Safety: Meetings will be monthly at 2:00 p.m. on 1st Wednesday following the 2nd Monday of each month unless otherwise noted.

The Storm Water Board: Meetings will be monthly at 1:45 p.m. on 1st Wednesday following the 2nd Monday of each month unless otherwise noted.

The Montpelier Redevelopment Commission: Meetings will be monthly at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.

John D. Morgan

Ward 1 Councilman

John D. Morgan (R) was appointed to the Montpelier City Council in 2017 and elected in 2019. Professionally, he has a background in radio. Currently, he works as an operations manager at Hoosier AM/FM LLC, a company with 4 stations in the Muncie/Marion area and 3 in Kokomo.

Travis Sills

Ward 2 Councilman

Travis Sills (R) was appointed as Ward 2 Councilman in 2021 after the retirement of the previous office holder. Professionally, Travis works for General Mills. His office is based in Mason, Ohio. Travis has also been a member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department for the past 16 years.

J. Michael Lee

Ward 3 Councilman

Michael Lee (D) was appointed to Montpelier City Council in 2008 and won his first election in 2011. He currently serves as the City Council President.

William “Bill” Smith

Ward 4 Councilman

Bill Smith (R) was first elected to the Montpelier City Council in 2019. He grew up in Trafford, Pennsylvania and moved to Montpelier to pastor the Christian Worship Center in Fiat. In addition to his pastorship, Bill worked at Blackford County Schools for 30 years. He served as the Harrison Township Trustee for 15 years and currently serves as Director of the Blackford County Emergency Management Agency.

Council-At-Large

Jerry Downhour (D) was appointed to the Montpelier City Council in 2012 and was first elected in 2015. He worked as an electrician for over 30 years.
