The Common Council: Meetings will be monthly on 2nd Monday at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The Board of Public Works and Safety: Meetings will be monthly at 2:00 p.m. on 1st Wednesday following the 2nd Monday of each month unless otherwise noted.

The Storm Water Board: Meetings will be monthly at 1:45 p.m. on 1st Wednesday following the 2nd Monday of each month unless otherwise noted.

The Montpelier Redevelopment Commission: Meetings will be monthly at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.

John D. Morgan

Ward 1 Councilman

John Morgan has retained a seat on the city council since first being appointed in 2017 and re-elected in 2019 and 2023. He was raised in Blackford County and has lived here most of his life. John is a 1996 graduate of Blackford High School and is currently the Operations Manager for Hoosier AM/FM LLC in Marion. John and his wife Sarah are the proud parents of Eli and Leah. They moved back to Montpelier to raise their kids here. In John’s spare time he is heavily involved with his kids’ sports passion, basketball, which he has coached for many years. Aside from basketball, and being on the radio, John and his wife enjoy traveling.

Travis Sills

Ward 2 Councilman

Travis Sills has served as City Council Ward 2 since the summer of 2021. In 2024, Mayor Neff also appointed him to the Redevelopment Commission. Travis has also been a member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department Since 2005. In his free time he enjoys concerts, sporting events and spending time with friends and family.

Corey Roberts

Ward 3 Councilman

Corey Roberts was raised in Blackford County and has lived in Montpelier, Indiana, most of his life. He is a 1997 graduate of Blackford High School and is currently employed by Walmart Distribution Center in Gas City as their Asset Protection Manager. On January 1, 2024, Corey took on the role of Councilman for the City of Montpelier. Corey and his wife Angie are the proud parents of two boys, one in high school and the other currently serving our country as a United States Marine. In Corey’s spare time he enjoys vacationing with family and spending time with family and friends. Corey is excited to be a part of helping Montpelier to see some positive change!

Michael Smith

Ward 4 Councilman

Michael Smith was first elected to the city council in the most recent election. Prior to his time on city council, he served on the Harrison Township Advisory Board. He has worked at Fleetwood RV for 27 years. In his spare time, Michael enjoys woodworking.

Gary Cagle

Gary Cagle grew up in Montpelier and has lived here most of his life. He graduated from Blackford High School in 1988. Gary was elected to office in the fall of 2023 and currently sits on the City Council, the Board of Works, and the Redevelopment Committee. Gary is married with 5 kids and 3 grandkids. He and his family love sports and attending sporting events, as well as camping and spending time in the pool. Gary considers it a blessing to be involved in the community of Montpelier and Blackford County.
