Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene held a Fall Festival on Saturday night. Though the night was a bit warm, they had a good crowd for yard games and hayrides early and a beautiful fireworks display at dark.

Local Church fireworks show

Pastor Jesse Johnson said, “the vision for this event was to bless our community and the name of Jesus with a night of dazzling lights and fall fun.” Around a hundred folks attended at the church with lots of others watching the fireworks from other locations around the area.

When asked how this event came to be, Pastor Jesse said that the last event they held was around the Fourth of July and it was poorly attended. So, then the idea was thrown out to do a fall festival since fall festivals are big around here. The James family (Cassie and Jeff) suggested the addition of fireworks and it grew from there. The fireworks were supplied and set off by Dusin Stidd, a licensed pyrotechnician.

Several local businesses contributed towards the cost of the fireworks. Jesse also wanted to give a special thanks to Michael McLain of Stick-It for making the shirts that all of the Cornerstone Church folks had on Saturday night, which made it really easy to find the organizers if needed.

Pastor Jesse also commented it wasn’t so much about how many folks were there but “how many names we learned, how many neighbors we met, and how, in that 30 seconds to a minute that we have with these people, we are able to love them for Jesus and form the beginning of a relationship so that when we see folks in the in community, we know them.” He also wanted me to let everyone know that they plan to do it again next year!
